SAFE DRINKING WATER – YOU CAN”T LIVE WITHOUT IT!
Having clean, safe water for drinking, cooking, and washing should be one of the top priorities for every prepper. I see a lot of what people write about their preps. I see a lot more written about food storage & guns and ammo than I do about water. Plain & simple – you can live for weeks with no food. You can only live a few days without water. Safe water should be a much bigger priority than food.
Most experts say that you should plan on having a minimum of one gallon of water per person per day. In extreme temperatures, you may need considerably more. Water weighs 8 pounds per gallon. A family of four would need at least 28 gallons of water for one week. That is 224 pounds of water, plus having some sort of container(s) to hold it. That is easy to do, if you’re able to shelter in place in your home. But how are you going to carry that water if you have to “bug out?” And if you don’t have water for longer than a week?
