Well, the girls are asleep, and I’m trying to get caught up on stuff. I thought I’d make a quick post. This was my first Father’s Day with my babies. It was a pretty laid back day, and I got to spend quite a bit of time alone with them. They’re growing so fast! They can both say “
Dada” now. I don’t think they really associate the word with me yet, but it’s very cool hearing them say it anyway.
They’re not quite crawling yet, but they roll over back & forth, & scoot themselves all over the place. They can sit up a little bit by themselves in a tripod sort of position. They’re eating a lot & growing FAST! They’re both beautiful, just like their mother, and just as sweet. They already have very different personalities, different likes & dislikes.
Marisa took a nap this morning after making me a nice breakfast, because she had to work tonight. While she was sleeping, I got to play with the girls quite a bit with no one else around. They’re so much fun! It’s awesome to watch them as they are amazed by every new little thing. Their smiles, and their little laughs make me happy.
As I was playing with them, I thought about how simple being a dad is at this point. I can pretty much fix just about any problem they have with a bottle, a fresh diaper, a nap, or sometimes just picking them up & holding them. I hope that as they grow older, I can keep a step ahead of most of their problems, and have a solution for whatever is going wrong for them. Life can be complicated, and growing up sucks, quite frankly. Sometimes I wish I was still a child & didn’t have anything to worry about except what to play & when are we eating next!
I want to be the dad that is remembered as being wise, and kind (and funny too!
). I want to have the answers for them, and sound advice when they come to me with a problem. I want them to look up to me as a good role model, and a fair man. I want for “daddy” to always mean a safe place to run to when life is scary. I’m sure there will be times that they get mad at me as children. That’s just part of the deal. But when they’re grown, & I’m gone, I hope that their memories of me are good ones. And I hope that with Marisa’s help, we can raise them to be good, strong women.
Thanks for reading my ramblings. I hope that you had a great day too! I have a lot of things working for the site. I’m working on more background stuff, & setting things up to make the site much more useful for all of you readers. Stay tuned for upcoming changes. Sign up to receive updates via email!
Be safe! ^MM
